30 Swimmers from Nebraska and Iowa competed in the 2024 Keefe Lodwig Keep It Short Masters Swim Meet at the Common Ground Aquatics and Recreation Center in Elkhorn (West Omaha) on February 3. (Click on image for larger picture.) MEET RESULTS.
2024 New Year’s Day Swim Challenge
Above: Twenty-six Nebraska Masters swimmers participated in the 2024 New Year’s Day Swim Challenge at the Dillon Family Aquatics Center/Fremont Family YMCA in Fremont, Nebraska on Monday, January 1. Swimmers chose either 100x100s, 100x75s, or 100x50s yard swims on a 1:30 or 1:40 interval. Event entry fees consisted of donations to the Omaha Food Bank and the Fremont YMCA Aquatics. These 26 swimmers swam a total of 191,250 yards. (Click on picture to view larger image.)

Congratulations to Nebraska Masters swimmer Mike Irvin who set a world record in the Men’s 55-59 100 meter (SCM) IM on October 28, 2023, at the Kirn YMCA in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Mike’s record time was 1:00.75!
Sharill Prey-Luedtke, who swims for Lincoln Masters and Others (LMAO), recently competed in the World Aquatics Masters Championship in Kyushu, Japan from August 2-11. Sharill competed in several events and earned top 10 finishes and Nebraska state records in the Women’s 55-59 200 Butterfly, 400 IM, 400 Free, and 800 Free. Congratulations Sharill! Oh, Sharill now holds the Nebraska state record for every event in the women’s 55-59 age group. Check it out here.
Dianna Carda, who swims with the Common Ground Masters in Elkhorn, recently competed in the 2023 World Dwarf Games in Cologne, Germany from July 28 to August 5. Dianna competed in several sports and earned Gold medals in the 50 meter back and 50 meter Fly in the pool, and discus in track and field.
She also captured Silvers in the 50 meter Breast, 50 meter Free, and shot put; and Bronze medals in the 60-meter dash and badminton. Congratulations Dianna!
And finally, congratulations to Nebraska Masters men Jon Gouger (UC29), Nick Soltys (UC29), John Apker (Common Ground), and Sean Larson (Common Ground) for placing in the top ten and setting new state records in several events at USMS Summer Nationals (LCM) in Sarasota, Florida earlier this month!
